Woodsmoke – Studio & Events Host (Freelance / Flexible Role)

Woodsmoke is a creative space set in a quiet, rural setting — a place for photography, workshops, wellness days, and carefully curated events. We’re looking for someone to help shape and run the space with us.

This isn’t a standard job. It’s a lifestyle role for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and cares about creating a welcoming, considered environment.

The Role

You’ll be at the heart of Woodsmoke — meeting guests, preparing the space, and helping each day run smoothly.

One day you might be:

• Welcoming cyclists and serving coffee on a Sunday

• Hosting a wellness retreat or small event

• Providing table service during events or open days

• Turning the space around between bookings

It’s a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is self-driven and takes initiative without needing direction

• Has front of house experience and is confident with people

• Holds a food hygiene certificate (or is willing to get one)

• Is a strong communicator — warm, clear, and professional

• Has an interest in wellness, healthy living, and creative environments

• Enjoys working across different tasks — from coffee service to event support

• Can think on their feet and stay calm under pressure

• Takes pride in presentation and detail

• Is flexible with hours, including weekends and event days

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a varied, hands-on role that blends hospitality, organisation, and creative input. Responsibilities include:

• Serving consistently high-quality coffee and delivering a warm, attentive guest experience

• Providing table service during events and open days

• Overseeing events and making sure each day runs smoothly from start to finish

• Hosting and supporting wellness retreats and workshops

• Managing the day-to-day running of Woodsmoke and maintaining its values and level of service

• Opening and preparing the space for bookings, including photoshoots and studio hire

• Helping facilitate photoshoots and studio hire days, ensuring clients have what they need and the day runs smoothly

• Turning the space around between bookings and maintaining cleanliness and presentation

• Supporting and coordinating with collaborators, including Woodsmoke partners and visiting hosts

• Taking and managing bookings and enquiries

• Ordering supplies and keeping the space well stocked and ready

• Bringing ideas to the role — from public events to creative use of the space

• Contributing to the evolution of Woodsmoke, including opportunities such as setting up exhibitions or gallery-style moments

• Taking ownership of the space when needed and working independently with confidence
